Experimental Field is an independent art platform founded in Moscow in 2016. Today, it brings together around 80 artists, musicians, curators, and researchers living and working across different countries.

The platform develops exhibitions, performances, sound projects, and interdisciplinary artistic initiatives. Its work is rooted in collaboration between practitioners of different generations and disciplines, open dialogue, and the collective production of new works.

Over the years, Opytnoe Pole has presented projects in Russia, Montenegro, Serbia, and Germany. The platform places particular emphasis on working with unconventional spaces and local contexts. Its exhibitions have taken place in independent art spaces, industrial buildings, and temporarily occupied venues, while musical performances have been staged in a former military fortress, a cave, and an abandoned settlement.

After relocating to Montenegro, Opytnoe Pole’s activities took on an increasingly international scope. Over the course of a year, the platform organized several major exhibitions, along with a series of musical and interdisciplinary projects involving artists and musicians from different countries. An important part of this period was the opportunity to work from a residency provided by Alex Starikov.

In Germany, Opytnoe Pole continued to expand its exhibition and performance programme. Recent projects include the international exhibition Nachbild der Leere in Cologne, which brought together artists from several countries, as well as new initiatives in sound art, site-specific practices, and curatorial research.

Today, Opytnoe Pole approaches exhibition-making, sound, video, performance, and space as equal artistic tools. The platform continues to develop international collaborations and create projects in which the site is not merely a backdrop or setting, but an active participant in the artistic process.
